Goma Tei Ramen was pretty tasty! I wouldn't say it was the best ramen in town but it does have some unique flavoring for a good ramen. The place is a normal sit down style, with a long bar style area for solo patrons to eat on. The service is pretty straight forward, down to business, takes your order and goes. The noodles were a little too firm for me but the broth, pork belly, and veggies included were the saving grace. I can recommend this to anyone who wants to satisfy their ramen craving or are interested in trying a slightly different style of ramen. :)

Goma Tei Ala Moana is an awesome spot to dine-in if you want to enjoy tasty Japanese curry. Takeout is still just as delicious! Over the years, I've been to every location on the island and have probably tried everything on the menu. My number one go-to is the Curry Rice Plate-- savory Chicken Curry with rice and pickled ginger (though I tend to skip the ginger). I love the bits of potato and carrots in the curry because they're tender and compliment the curry perfectly! A little chili oil takes it to the next level! If I'm craving noodles, I go for the Spicy Tan Tan Ramen with customizable spice levels. You can't go wrong with tan tan! Their noodles are cooked al dente and taste home made, which I can appreciate. Goma Tei is a solid 5 stars--great service, fresh food, and perfectly seasoned dishes. Plus, the consistency across locations is top-tier. Though the prices have gone up, this is still an affordable spot compared to most restaurants. The quality of the food is excellent. Their portions are generous. I have nothing but good things to say! It's my favorite date night spot and I love bringing my team here during our lunch break. Prices for most entrees start around $14.50. If you're in the mood for some cozy Japanese cuisine, Goma Tei is the place to be.

Hot soup on a blustery, stormy day in Honolulu, Hawaii... A terrible storm passed over the Island of O'ahu on Thursday, January 30, 2025. However, as loyal Yelp Elites, we found a restaurant on our Yelp apps that we both hadn't written reviews for... yet... Goma Tei Ramen Ala Moana Located on the Makai (ocean) side, ground level of Ala Moana Center, by See's Candies, this location of Goma Tei has free covered parking right in front! Irene got there before me and secured a table by the front door. Menus, glasses of water, napkins, and chopsticks were present. Table and counter seats are available. Restroom is convenient. The interior is clean and simple! Service was efficient and polite. We weren't ready at first, so the server came back later... no problem! I chose the Japanese Won Ton Soup because I don't need extra carbs... LOL! The wontons were LARGE! The filling was delicious and the wrappers were thin and delicate! What an excellent dish! I'm so happy that we went to this Goma Tei! I wonder if the others have Japanese Won Ton Soup???

While everything else(including the food court) closes at 8pm, Goma Tei closes at 9. Everytime we come to Ala Moana we'll get lunch at the food court then shop around. After the mall closes we'll go and get dinner from whatever restaurants are opened after 8pm and goma tei is one of them. I usually get the char siu shoyu ramen and they load it with pork. Ramen and broth is delicious which is why my family and I continue to return to goma tei. The pork in my ramen... it honestly doesn't have much taste and it's a bit tough but I really like the fatty parts in it because it just melts in your mouth. The service is great and they're fast too. We got seated within minutes of arriving even though it was busy. Once we ordered our food, not long after they came out with it and we got to eating. Because of how quick it was, we were out of there fairly quick as well. I will be returning as I have been. They have multiple locations and I've been to the Ala Moana location, as well as their pearlridge location and the food is the same at both. Good food and quick service so if you are wanting ramen I suggest giving them a try.

I am not sure why 4 stars... I think because it didn't hit the spot, but they didn't do anything wrong. I was craving ramen, came to Goma Tei Ala Moana for early dinner, like 430 PM. Located on makai (ocean) side of Ala Moana. Plenty of seats, wasn't busy. They had regular dining tables, and they had bar seats. Got seated right away. This wasn't my first time, this may have been my 2nd or 3rd time. If I'm not mistaken, I think the first time I tried was also good, but forgot the experience. So many to choose from on the menu. You got the options of tan tan ramen, shoyu ramen, rice bowls, hot and sour soup ramen, Mabo tofu, cold udon noodles, curry, fried rice, wonton soup/ramens, Kakuni, fish dumpling, and different side dishes. Great customer service. Servers were prompt, took orders right away, served accordingly, and was friendly and nice. I got the regular tan tan ramen and the wife got chicken katsu curry. We also ordered side popcorn chicken, and Japanese wonton. Mannn.. I forgot how huge those ramen bowls were. That was hella huge. Wife wasn't happy with the curry. Stick to curry house for your curry fix. I think you gotta stick to the specialty - ramen. Any way, tan tan ramen also had a burnt flavor. Wasn't happy with that, but of course I ate it cuz I was hungry. The popcorn chicken was, meh, and the Japanese wonton was also, meh. I asked the wife for her opinion and what she thought, and she said it's overpriced and just wasn't happy that my ramen had a burnt flavor. Would she come back, she said no. Would I come back? I think after I thought about it, I said no, but I think I change my mind. I think I would. I like my noodles even though our food wasn't great. I don't know... sometimes like that lol
